Holiday Shopping 2022

Over the Summer season, I was very happy to have opportunities to make and show new artwork at the Art Garage in Cooperstown, NY, and 25 Main Collective in Cherry Valley, NY. You can view these bodies of work at www.meganirving.com. Now, I’m happy to announce the launch of a new home decor project, the first in a series of paper cutout sets based on my original watercolor pomegranate ornaments. Each set comes with 12 pomegranate ornaments printed on heavy paper, which you can cut out to hang as individuals or string together in a garland.

Pomegranate ornaments are available at the following local stores and are coming to Etsy soon.

Holiday Shopping 2021

Holiday shopping is only made better when you buy special one-of-kind objects for the people you love. Fossil Farm was created so I could share the unique handmade objects I was envisioning for my own home and garden. As an artist, I am frequently switching back and forth between creating art objects that exist in their own world and making functional ware that suits my day-to-day lifestyle which is very focused on my garden and the nature in my own backyard. My lines of ceramic items for home and garden include geometric garden lanterns like rolled paper, the Moon Garden series of flower bricks and candle holders, and flower bricks inspired by my antique farmhouse.

This Holiday Season a limited number of pieces are available at pop-up shopping events at Straw House Herbs, Cherry Valley, NY, Weathertop Farm, Sharon Springs, NY, the Cooperstown Art Association, Cooperstown, NY.

Please see below for more information on these three locations. Contact me with any questions.

Guide to Shopping Fossil Farm 2021

When I was a kid my mother would let me stay home from school if she was doing something interesting like choosing wallpaper for the house, going to pick up art supplies, or to a big fabric store. She took me along on several adventures in art making and interior decorating and I loved it so much more than all the waiting in lines in school. Now, having spent my whole life making things and dreaming of what could be made I’ve been focusing on clay. Clay is such a brilliant material for creating objects from your imagination. When I work on items for the home I focus on decorative tableware like candle and flower holders that add ambiance and interest, a little bit of art and nature to an everyday table setting.

Clay Slab Construction, A Short Demonstration

Clay is a metaphor for anything that can transform itself and that ability to be anything you want has an enormous creative draw for me as a landscape painter and creator of Fossil Farm’s flower arranging vessels. At Strawhouse Herbs’ Harvest Weekend, I will be showing some basic hand-building techniques using slabs of clay to create a vessel with various modifications.

The demonstration will be, October 10th at 11:00, approximately 1hr with a little time for questions at the end.

August 2019 Claycation

In August I participated in in the infamous “August Workshop” at the Elizabeth Nields Clay Workshop. I could only commit to half the month at the Workshop because I had other obligations but all together I dedicated the moth to clay and is was a very productive . A month full of new ideas, plenty of failed experiments, some great successes and new materials.
